Podcast: Mireille Fanon-Mendes-France Discusses Race, Racism and the Legacy of Her Father, Frantz Fanon

Voices of Liberation: Frantz FanonTim Modise of Power FM recently spoke to Mireille Fanon-Mendes-France, daughter of renowned decolonial thinker and writer Frantz Fanon, president of the Frantz-Fanon Foundation and author of the introduction to Voices of Liberation: Frantz Fanon.

Fanon-Mendes-France was in South Africa to deliver the keynote address at Unisa’s College of Human Sciences decoloniality summer school.

During the interview on Power FM Modise and Fanon-Mendes-France discuss, among other things, racism, discrimination, racially motivated developments around the world (including the recent Charlie Hebdo attack) and the relevance of Fanon’s legacy today.

Martinique-born psychiatrist Fanon was an important voice in the liberation of Algeria and has offered inspiration in many other struggling societies, including South Africa. Voices of Liberation: Frantz Fanon gives insight into the extraordinary thoughts and ideas of the man hailed as the 20th century’s most important revolutionary.
